Prison Education remains a taboo here in the United States, where some still question the need of it and fail to see the value it creates. If you visit other Prison Education websites around the country today , you’ll see a lot of them with images of someone trying to read in low light, someone behind the bars and overall a murky, depressing feel.
At NYU , we wanted to rethink that and instead, celebrate our students’ academic achievements and the impact the program was having on their lives and in the society.
